Portraits that pop!

My top tips for Portraits that Pop
Lighting, we used 2 x Octobox modifiers on Godox Outdoor AD600 BM lights, set at 1/8 power and 1/32 power.
Kit, my trusty Canon 5D Mark 4 with an 85mm prime lens. ISO 100 f5.6 1/125
Poses are relaxed and fun, direction is given and poses are modelled by me. Shoot was tethered so we can see the images as they happen.
Edits made in Lightroom and we boosted the texture, clarity, dehaze and colour. I also added grain to give the colours more depth.

I was invited to make official portraits of the new mayor of brighton & hove…

The flash to bounced from the ceiling and onto the Mayor from above, the light is soft and diffused and does not spill into the environment too much. Shooting the light from above also meant it did not cause unsightly flash hotspots on the Mayor and the reflective glass covering a portrait of Kind Charles in the background, thank me later KC.
